Fall is my favorite time of year. I love the cooler weather and all of the fun activities that come with it.
One of my favorite things to do in the fall is to create tablescapes for dinner parties and special occasions.
If you’re looking for some inspiration for your next fall get-together, check out these five tips below!
As you start thinking about your fall tablescape, choosing a color palette that fits the occasion is always a good idea. Fall is a season full of celebrations, so you have plenty of inspiration at your disposal.
For example, if you’re hosting a Halloween party, consider using orange and black to set the tone.
For Thanksgiving with family, choose hues of reds and oranges to coordinate with the traditional fall colors of fallen leaves.
Your centerpiece should be eye-catching and the first thing that your guests will see when they arrive at the table.
For a fun, unique centerpiece, take a look at the ones I put together below.
Country greens
This event was a casual get-together with friends and family. The food was to be placed on the table so that everyone can serve themselves as much as they want.
I love setting the table for these casual get-togethers because it really makes the food part of the tablescape. So I decided to take it a step further.
For this fall tablescape, I used in-season vegetables like peppers, carrots and leafy greens I purchased at my local farmer’s market.
The trick here is to source vegetables of different colors and sizes in order to create a more dynamic composition.
I used stands to elevate the serving platters and filled the center of the table with my arrangement of vegetables. I even added a few pumpkins and squash to my setting.
At the end of the dinner, I invited the guest to take home some vegetables to cook with so there was no wastage.
For a rustic look, you can dress up a wood log.
You can add succulents to the various crevices or holes that naturally occur on logs and branches.
Or you can add pinecones, moss, and dried flowers.
My best advice is to let your imagination wander and to use what you already have at your disposal.
And for a really easy, no-frills centerpiece to add to your fall tablescape, look for flowers with fall colors to add to your favorite vases.
The easiest way to make your fall tablescape stand out is to change an ordinary napkin into something of beauty.
It can be as easy as doing a simple fold to your cloth napkins and adding dry flowers. Watch this video to see how easy it is.
Or if you’ve got a little bit of time you can DIY a napkin ring with a little bit of wire, washi tape, and some dry flowers.
Here’s how I did it
Candlelight can provide a romantic feel to an otherwise ordinary table setting, so don’t be afraid to use them when creating your fall tablescape!
Candles are also an excellent way of adding ambiance and creating a nice glow that will make your overall tablescape look more complete.
You may want to invest in some battery-powered tea lights you can use again in other table settings.
Finally, you don’t have to spend a lot of money to create an unforgettable fall tablescape.
In fact, you can use what you already have in your home or garden and what’s in the season to add beautiful touches that will make your guests feel welcome and special.
Dried flowers or fallen leaves, for example, can add a lovely autumn touch and are available everywhere this time of the year.
Remember that the beauty of fall is all about bringing color back into your life after summer’s heat has faded away.
Use these ideas as inspiration for your table decorations and don’t be afraid to make it your own.
Also, remember that there’s no such thing as “the wrong way” when setting the table. Rely on your own creative thinking and have fun.
Happy fall, everyone.
