Who says a table has to make sense to be meaningful?
Some of the most beautiful tables I’ve ever created came from letting go of balance, restraint, and adult logic altogether.

This table began with a very clear directive from my daughter and my role was to listen. Really listen. She imagined bright colors, bold florals, dramatic textures, and a world that felt loud, playful, and unapologetically hers. So I followed her lead and committed fully, knowing this moment would not last forever. That’s what made it feel precious.

I love projects like this because they carry emotion, memory, and a sense of time passing. One day her interests will shift, her ideas will soften or sharpen into something new. But on this day, this table held her world and I had the privilege of bringing it to life.

When creating a table inspired by someone else’s imagination, especially a child’s, precision matters less than presence. I leaned into color without hesitation, allowing pink florals to dominate rather than decorate. Textures were layered intuitively, soft petals against structured surfaces, playful chaos balanced through repetition rather than symmetry.

If you’re designing a table tied to a personal milestone, let emotion guide the choices. Choose elements that feel alive to the moment. Tables like this are not meant to last, they are meant to be remembered.
